A Brave Woman Will Shine Bright
Determination in Entrepreneurship Will Drive Success
Diamond Controller Tan Chew Yan(Malaysia)
I once read a saying, “Having a dream will expand a woman's horizons and vision, and enable her to create a more wonderful life.” This is also my deepest desire. I aim to strike a balance between my personal growth, career, and family, and in turn, be able to help others and give back to society.
Every time I stumble on my path of entrepreneurship can be considered a badge of honor. We are not born brave, but forged into courageous individuals by the harsh realities of life.
Pain and Hardship in Traditional Entrepreneurship
I started building my dream at 19 years old, a time when many of my classmates and friends were still enjoying their innocent youths. My dream was to allow the women around me and myself to become more confident and beautiful. So I, full of passion, started a small studio in an effort to become an entrepreneur. I started from zero, learned and explored, and then eventually established a system and launched my own beauty business.
The traditional entrepreneurship path is rigged with external competition, internal challenges, financial pressure, and physical and mental burdens. On top of all that, the frustration of losing employees caused me to have a total meltdown at one point. Even though it cost me my youth, my energy, and my health, I still did not give up on the dream of having my own business.
Power of Sharing of EASECOX Business
Perhaps the universe saw my heart's true desire. In 2010, I stumbled upon EASECOX, which changed my life. Not only could I fulfill my dream, I realized I could also gain much more, such as professional training, teammates, company resources, and mentors’ guidance and assistance. I no longer had to soldier on alone, and it simply felt great.
Mentor Alicia is like my lighthouse, keeping me on the right path. Her reminders were straight to the point, and pierced through my stubbornness and pride so that I could spot my shortcomings. This whole process was full of challenges, and whenever I felt indecisive, tired or sad in the process of developing the business, my mentors would provide me with assistance and allow me to achieve my own growth, so that I would be able to find my own way of sharing the business. This allowed me to expand my personal network through mutual trust, bit by bit and step by step. My mentor can be considered my best strategist in the process of realizing my dream.
Reaching Far with Steady Steps
I am grateful to mentor Maggie for establishing the Venus International Education System and to many senior colleagues for their selfless guidance, which allowed me to learn the necessary skills and in turn build an extraordinary international business. Furthermore, my friends and partners who have trusted me, supported me and been there for me are my intangible assets that I deeply value. I started out as the owner of an ordinary beauty parlor and have now become a 20A leader of EASECOX. This honor means more to me than any trophy or award. Finally, I can be the role model that others inspire to become.
All the important moments of my life are closely connected to EASECOX. My three precious children were born under the halo of EASECOX. EASECOX is like my second home. My husband is well aware that my business gives me a great sense of achievement, so he always fully supports me and helps with the household chores. He often jokes with our colleagues that, “Other women brought their maternity kits to the hospital when they gave birth, but Chew Yan brought her iPad and member list instead.”
We have survived the pandemic and worked hard as a team both online and offline, and with the full support from chairman Simon and the company, we will all gain strength and become one another's safe harbor in order to keep moving forward. The EASECOX business allows me to not only be a successful entrepreneur but also manage every role I play in my life: a good mother, a resilient wife, and a brave protagonist who has realized her dream.
